The Proverbs 31 Woman - You are HER by Deborah Horack

I hope you ladies enjoy this. I wanted to write about laughter, but what could I find? I then thought of Proverbs 31. If any one of you ladies are familiar with this scripture you certainly know what I mean. Those of you who are not should take time to read it over, and when you do try not to be over-whelmed. You'll probably say "You're kidding me, right?"

I don't think I've ever seen a woman read this and not laugh, as they read in amazement about this perfect woman who was written about so long ago. We have such a high standard to live up to.

"She keeps her husband happy, she works eagerly, she gets up early, stays up late and laughs at days to come." I don't know about you but, I don't always make my husband happy, I sleep in, I definitely don't always work eagerly and I don't always laugh at days to come. It's as if they were writing about a Stepford wife. Seriously, is she for real? It even says in scripture, "A wife of noble character, who can find her?"

But we are her. We may not be perfect, but we are willing, and that is what God sees. We don't select wool and flax; we select perma-press for easy care, no ironing.

"She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar." We can now click on the computer for food.

"She gets up early, while it is dark and prepares food for her family." We arise and serve Cheerios, hot pockets, and Swanson TV dinners.

"Strength and dignity are her clothing and her position is strong and secure." Often there are times when I can not find my strength and dignity well I often ran around without it. Feel secure, yeah right, when I see everything on my body going south. But there is one thing I can have strength and security in, and that is God.

I may not be the woman in Proverbs 31, but I know God is still pleased with me; God loves me, even with my faults. God sees me trying and He is ok with that. So, as you read this passage ladies, remember, if you are serving God, you are that Proverbs 31 woman. And when you serve God, your ability to serve others will only prosper.

There it is ladies! Always know God is pleased with you.

Hold your head up and know you are a woman of God.

God bless you all!
