Don't Feed Jealousy by Ellen C.
"For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work."
"Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous, but who is able to stand before envy?"
James 3:16, Proverbs 27:4
If our precious Lord and Savior gave each of us His unique gifts...why would we be jealous of anyone...especially another believer for that matter? After all...any good thing in US is from HIM...
The Bible tells us that we are not saved by our works "...lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:9. For what could we really do to deserve a place at His feet? A room in His mansion?
God sees it all…we read in the first verse that where there is envy--there is CONFUSION...I immediately get the picture of a bunch of bugs running for cover when the lights are turned on. Scurrying about and not knowing where to hide.
I know I got off track here...bear with me....I do have a point...
"My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from me, nor is their sin concealed from my eyes."Jer 16:17 (NIV)
What does anyone gain by being jealous? Isn't that the heart of the evil one? Satan lies to you and causes all envy and strife--as we see in the following verse, for he is the god of this world:
"Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it." John 8:44 (KJV)
A thought to ponder: who are you feeding?
